The Heidelberg Cement Group

chooses the X-Guard total solution!

Enci, a large cement factory belonging to the Heidelberg Cement group, has locations in the Netherlands, including in Rotterdam and IJmuiden. These branches have recently been equipped with the X-Guard total solution. All employees are equipped with a smartphone.

These smartphones are equipped with the X-Guard Alarm app including a walkie-talkie function. As a result, the walkie-talkies and the mandown system are combined into one total solution, which greatly increases ease of use for employees and drastically reduces costs.

Extensive field test

Before Enci made the decision to choose X-Guard, field tests were carried out at both locations. During this Proof of Concept (PoC), the reliability of the system was intensively tested. The location determination was tested both outside on the sites and inside the factories. In addition to location determination, ease of use and sound quality played an important role. The employees who participated in this field test praised the user-friendliness compared to the old walkie-talkies. In addition, the mandown system and the very accurate location determination gave a very safe feeling during work.

Control room

Enci has chosen to process the alarms itself. Using the X-Guard Alarm Manager, the control room is able to function as an alarm center itself. Control room operators can handle all alarms per location. Via X-Guard's unique Dynamic Conference Call (DCC) solution, the Operator has the same information available everywhere and can always send the nearest colleague on site to verify the alarm

Comfort

Enci employees can take the smartphones home with them. To ensure that you do not forget to turn on X-Guard when starting work, we have ensured that the app is automatically turned on when entering the factory site. When you leave the site, the app is automatically turned off again. During the work, it is also automatically checked whether the smartphone has sufficient range. When entering a room with no or very poor reception, the user is warned by the X-Guard alarm app and must leave the room within fifteen minutes. If the room is not left in time, action will be taken to the control room. For verification purposes, the control room sends someone to the last known location to check how this employee is doing.

Accessories

Together with the employees, we have found the most suitable otoplastics and earmuffs that are linked to the telephones. We have also developed a foot pedal for crane operators.
