How does the X-Guard personal alarm work?

1. You send an alarm
2. People nearby (or emergency response) within a radius of 200m are called
3. If no one is available, the X-Guard alarm center is deployed. The operator immediately determines whether police should be sent.
4. If the operator cannot determine this, he calls app users within a radius of 2000m to see what is going on.
5. No app users available within a radius of 2000m? The operator deploys a mobile invigilator or key holders.

1. You send an alarm

When you are in an unsafe situation and need help, you send an alarm. This can be done in various ways:

• Via Alarm app On your phone you can use different types of personal alarms: there is a panic button (police deployment/mobile surveillance), an assistance button (operator provides guidance) and a Risk button (man-down alarm).
• Via Bluetooth Alarm button which is linked to the Alarm app. You can wear this on your wrist, on your belt, on your key ring or around your neck. You can press this button unseen to send a silent alarm if you are in an unsafe situation. The advantage of this is: you don't have to pick up your phone and unlock it to send an alarm. You can also set which type of alarm is sent when you press the alarm button; a panic alarm or an assistance alarm.

Panic button : use in the event of an acute emergency. A listening connection is established with the X-Guard alarm center, during which the operator assesses the situation and determines what assistance is required. The operator can then dispatch the police, a patrol officer, or key holders.

Assistance button : use in the event of an uncertain situation. There is no immediate panic, but you are unsure whether the situation is safe or will be safe, for example when you are making a home visit to a client. If you use this button, a two-way communication link is established with the operator. You can discuss the best course of action, and the operator will listen in with you until you are safe.

Risk button ( man-down alarm ): In the Alarm app, you can set "Self-protection" to "On" and "Off," or select "RISK." In Risk mode, X-Guard uses the motion sensor on your mobile phone to track whether you are still moving. If you have fainted or otherwise stopped moving, the app triggers a pre-alarm. If you still do not move, an alarm is sent. You can adjust the countdown time to the pre-alarm, but it is set to two minutes by default.

Test alarm (green): To test if the app is functioning correctly, you can create a test alarm. You will then receive an email confirmation that your personal alarm is working properly.

2. People nearby (or emergency response team) are warned | Basicpackage 

When every second counts, it is important that the people physically closest to you can help immediately. If you raise the alarm, another app user nearby will be called directly from the app via the emergency center.

These are for example:

• Buren
• Colleagues
• Family members
• Company first responders (BHV)

These people nearby can indicate in the app whether they are available to provide assistance at that moment or not. If no one is available at that time, the emergency call will be forwarded to the X-Guard emergency center.

3. The X-Guard alarm center | Additional package | High Risk package

The operator of the X-Guard alarm center works with the X-Guard Alarm Manager. This system is important, however: the person who works with it is the most important human link in the process. When an emergency call is sent to the X-Guard emergency center, a listening connection is immediately set up with an operator.

4. The emergency center deploys the police or mobile invigilator | Additional package | High Risk package

If the person who sent the alarm is not available, the operator will call one of our mobile supervisors who is closest at that moment - this way the personal alarm is most efficient. The invigilator will check the situation and, if necessary, take action upon arrival by immediately calling the police or ambulance.

5. Key holders | Additional package | High Risk package

Key holders are the people who have access to one or more buildings or locations. This allows them to provide rapid assistance if a personal alarm is reported from this location.
